Toquinho is one of Ipojuca’s southernmost beaches, next to Serrambi Beach and close to the Sirinhaém River estuary, toward the municipality of Sirinhaém. It has a residential feel, with holiday homes and gated developments, and gets fewer tourists than the beaches near Porto de Galinhas village.
There is little official information specifically about Toquinho. This page is shorter and focuses on what could be verified: location, the access situation and environmental care.
What the beach is like
Unofficial sources describe Toquinho as a fine-sand beach, with reefs along part of the shoreline, waves on the ocean side and calmer water near the Sirinhaém River. Treat this description as guidance. Conditions change with the tide, wind and time of year, and were not confirmed by an official source.
Beach access
Like every Brazilian beach, Toquinho is public property for common use, with free access guaranteed by Federal Law 7,661/1988. In September 2026, CBN Recife reported that the Pernambuco Public Prosecutor’s Office went to court to guarantee free access to Serrambi and Toquinho beaches. According to the report:
- a gated development in Toquinho operated as “controlled access”, with a gatehouse, barrier and ID check;
- the report mentions eleven access points to the beach in Toquinho;
- a court decision ordered signs stating that beach access is free, while keeping the gatehouses.
Bring ID, use the public access points and keep an eye on the situation, which may change with new rulings.
When to go
For the reef stretches, low tide is the best time. Plan with the Porto de Galinhas tide table.
Who it suits
- Travelers who want an uncrowded beach and do not mind limited facilities.
- People already staying in southern Ipojuca.
- Anyone doing a southern-beaches day, together with Serrambi and Pontal de Maracaípe.
Environmental and safety tips
The sea at Toquinho is inside the Serrambi Reefs Marine Environmental Protection Area, and the local estuaries are part of the Sirinhaém and Maracaípe Rivers Estuarine Environmental Protection Area, both managed by the state environmental agency CPRH.
- Do not step on the reefs or feed the fish.
- Do not leave trash on the sand or in the mangroves.
- Near the river mouth, the current changes with the tide: avoid swimming without local guidance.
- On beaches without lifeguards, be extra careful, and call 193 (fire and rescue) in an emergency.
How to fit it into your itinerary
Toquinho fits into a low-tide morning combined with Serrambi. For other quiet beaches outside the village, see beaches near Porto de Galinhas.
Practical tips
- Bring photo ID: entrances through gated communities may ask for identification.
- Bring water, snacks and a beach umbrella: there are few businesses.
- Go at low tide if you want to enjoy the reef-sheltered stretches.
- Combine it with Serrambi on the same day.
