FAQ
Before you travel
Where is Porto de Galinhas?
Porto de Galinhas is a beach and village in the municipality of Ipojuca, on the southern coast of Pernambuco, Brazil. Most visitors arrive through Recife, which has the nearest international airport.
When do the natural pools appear?
At low tide. The lower the tide, the better the visit to the pools. Check the official tide table for your travel dates and book the jangada rides for those times.
How many days should I stay?
Three or four days are enough for the natural pools, Muro Alto and Maracaípe without rushing. With five to seven days you can add trips to Carneiros, Santo Aleixo and a day in Recife and Olinda.
Do I need a car?
In the village you can do almost everything on foot. For other beaches in Ipojuca, such as Muro Alto, Maracaípe and Serrambi, a car, taxi, ride-hailing app or buggy makes things much easier.
Is Porto de Galinhas good for kids?
Yes, especially on the calmer beaches sheltered by reefs and in the pools at low tide. Always follow the lifeguards' guidance and wear proper footwear on the reefs.
