Editorial policy, sources and methodology

The rules we follow to write, check and update the guide.

Updated on October 5, 2026 ✓ Information checked on October 5, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original

Principles

  1. Never make things up. Dates, times, prices, distances and business details are only included with a source. If we are not sure, the information is left out or flagged to be checked.
  2. Primary sources first. We prefer Ipojuca City Hall, the Pernambuco state government, the Brazilian Navy, IBGE (Brazil’s statistics institute), ICMBio (the federal conservation agency) and the official websites of attractions. Secondary sources, such as the press and encyclopedias, are used only with caution and are identified.
  3. Transparency. Every page shows the date of its latest update and the sources consulted, with the date they were checked.
  4. No invented experiences. We do not write “we visited” or “we tried”. The content is editorial and informative.

Tides

We do not calculate tides ourselves. The site’s tide tool reproduces the official Brazilian Navy forecast for the Port of Suape, with a link to the Navy’s PDF; the “now” height is only an estimate between the tides in the table. The criteria for a good tide for the pools are editorial and labelled as such.

Prices

Prices only appear when read on an official channel, with the source and the date they were checked. Prices for tours and services change often: always confirm before booking.

When sources disagree

When sources disagree, for example about the length of a beach or the origin of a name, we point out the disagreement or use the most cautious wording.

Business directory and advertising

  • Businesses are listed only with a verifiable public source, shown for each listing.
  • We do not publish phone or WhatsApp numbers.
  • Sponsorship and advertising, if any, are always labeled and do not change the editorial text.

Other sites from the same publisher

The same publisher runs other travel guides, including Fernando de Noronha PE. Each guide covers its own destination; when a topic belongs to another destination, we point to the relevant guide instead of repeating the content.

Translations

The versions in other languages are adaptations of the Portuguese original, reviewed for readers of each language. The facts and sources are the same. Unreviewed machine translation is not published.

Photos

We only use freely licensed photos, with author and license shown on the credits page. Until there is a licensed photo of a place, the site uses its own graphic illustrations.
